Psalm 103:1-5 KJV
[1]Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
[2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
[3] Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
[4] Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
[5] Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Today, God wants to remind us that we should always praise Him. The devil usually blinds people's eyes not to see the goodness of God and only make people see those things that God has not done. Gratitude is one of the things God desires from us. We see how God punished the Israelites many times in the wilderness because every time they are faced with any needs they forget those things that God did in the past and start complaining about those things God has not done yet. God was always angry with them because of this every time. God excepted them to remember how God solved their problems in the past and then thank Him that He will do it again this time not murmur or worried that they were going to perish in the wilderness.
Again we see from our text, the psalmist tells his soul not to forget the goodness of God. It means times may come when situations we find ourselves want to make us forget the goodness of God, we can remind ourselves and tell our soul not to forget the goodness of God.
Many atimes, the worries of I want to build mansion, I want to buy big car, I want to have big business clouds our hearts and we forget those things God has done that even gave us the chance to worry about those things. One of the things God has done is to give us the gift of life. People who are not alive cannot worry about mansion or big cars anymore. Another goodness of God we should be grateful for is good health. Every time I am sick, the only thing I worry about is God please heal me. I literally forget about desires for house, cars or business. That means, it is because we have good health that we have the feeling that we need house or those many others that we are worried about. Verse 4 of our text reminds us of how God has redeemed our lives from destruction. I am sure many of us have this testimony of how God has kept us from being destroyed by some situations, some sicknesses that claim people's lives God has healed us from them. Some places that some people lost their lives God has kept us safe in such places and we leave their alive, may God's name be praised.
Another thing to thank God for according to verse 3 of our text is, the power of God to forgive sins. Many people who are depressed, it is the guilt of sin that makes them depressed. One thing that salvation does is, it makes us stand before God as though we have never sinned before, this brings back a cordial relationship between us and God and replaces guilt with joy that flows like a river endlessly. Because of this goodness of God we can't get anywhere else except from God, we should thank God for it.
The list of things to thank God for are endless, a verse in our text talks about God renewing our strength. A lot of people don't have strength to cater for their needs. We are not making mockery of them please, we are just making us to see the goodness of God that we should thank God for. Some have lost ability to use their brain for thinking right, some have lost some parts of their bodies, some are living on medication and life support machines. They are alive but they don't have ability to do things that God has given us ability to do. It means we should always remember to thank God for the giving us strength and ability to do things we want to do, may God's name be praised.
Lastly, I want us to always remember God's goodness in the past. If God has done great things in the past, we should thank Him that He will surely do much more now and even in the future. Amen.

- My Heavenly Father I thank You for all Your goodness for me. Please be glorified in the highest. Amen.
- God please help me to continually remember Your goodness even when my needs want to make me forget.
