46 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Today again we are discussing one of the whom God is to us. Today God is telling us that He is our refuge and He is also our strength. Someone might want to ask, why are we talking about God every time, the reason is because the whole summary about the Bible is God letting us know whom He is, and we can't finish it all, it can't be exhausted. We have not finished learning about whom God is and we can't finish learning it. More so, we need it to continue to encourage ourselves with whom God is as in His power and things He can do so we don't forget and we don't go about seeking other powers smaller than God. May God help us and may God plant this words on our hearts so much that it germinates into a strong tree that is unshaken, unmovable even in times of trials and temptations that may want us to seek other powers lower than God's power. Amen. 

God is telling us today that He is our refuge and strength, what is refuge, in my little knowledge I think refuge is a hiding place people run to for safety from war or problems. God is telling us that He is our safety from the turbulence and chaos of the world. Whenever our hearts is troubled and we don't know what to do, we can run to God for safety. Whenever there is an issue that looks like a storm and it's threatening as if to swallow us, we can run to God in prayers and we find our rest in Him where He speaks peace be still to all turbulent storms. Many times I have had such times of storms in my life too in the past, but coming to God at these times, my soul has always found relief, and what once looked like threat to life became the path to victory. Praise God. That is whom God is. That is how He works. Many people who enter depression and anxiety have not seen God as their refuge in times of trouble, because God will always give rest to everyone who run to Him for safety. Maybe their pastors have refused to show them whom God is, maybe their pastors have diverted their attention to himself as if he is their saviour, we see how these pastors react when you go to them for help, some will say instead of you to give to your pastors you are asking money from pastors, I have heard one said one time that as he was giving to a poor man who asked him for money, God told him he will never meet angels of help any more. I wonder what God will lay curse on a poor person because they ask for your help. Definitely that is not God Almighty in heaven, maybe it's some demonic gods who gave them power to scam their church members to drop all their money for them. They are just saying all these, so their church members won't ask them for money or help but they keep receiving from the church members. What I'm trying to say here is, for a church member that the pastor made the church member to see him as God but yet the church member can run into problem if they ask them for help, of course that person will become so frustrated in times of trouble. But in our case here, God is teaching us we don't need to use anyone as our god. He alone the God Almighty is all sufficient for us. The fact that we can't see Him face to face doesn't limit His work or power, we are to walk with Him by faith and we begin to see His wonders, when in trouble, go to God in prayers. God never forsake those who come to Him. 

Again God says He is our strength, it means when we are weak, He can sustain us and replenish our strength. Who could have thought that it was an experience that was supposed to make me weak God used to strengthen me. And I have also become a mouthpiece of God to tell people that all hope is not lost no matter how bad the situation may be, God can turn it around for good. God can give you strength in the times of trouble and we will scale through safely without being drowned by the river of trouble. God is good. Please let's make God our all in all, He is able to be everything to us and we won't have to be disappointed and He will never fail us. Amen. 

Prayers

1. My God and my Father, I thank You so much for Your words that You have sent to me again today that I can trust You as my refuge and strength, please be glorified in the highest. 
2. Great God of heaven and earth, please help me that I will always run to you in times of trouble or storms, help me not to run to small gods or human beings, help me to always see You as my all in all. Amen.
